Farmers’ Markets in Central Auckland
1. City Farmers’ Market – Britomart
Every Saturday: 8.30 am – 12.30 pm
Located in the heart of downtown Auckland, the City Farmers’ Market brings rural New Zealand into our biggest city.
This vibrant little market gathers together a great selection of seasonal growers and producers. Fresh pastries, artisan breads, cheeses, mussel fritters, French crêpes – it’s all there.
A bit funkier than your standard farmers market, they even have Britomart FM DJs on the decks!
Note that on a fine day the markets will be on the corner of Galway and Gore Street. In Winter and on rainy days, you’ll find them at the Britomart Pavilion, diagonally opposite the normal market site.
The City Farmers’ Market is an easy stroll both from the Ferry Terminal Building on Quay Street and from Queen Street. Discounted parking is available for $6 at the Britomart Car Park (corner of Britomart Place and Quay St, by Les Mills). You will just need to have your parking ticket validated at the market.
2. The Grey Lynn Farmers’ Market
Every Sunday: 8.00 am – 12.00 pm
If you’re looking for a community-owned and operated alternative to your local supermarket, a visit to the Grey Lynn Farmers’ Market should be top of your list.
By shopping at a locally owned market like this, you’re supporting farmers sell their products direct to the community – that’s a winning result for everyone.
In addition to fresh produce, you’ll also find a section of award-winning artisan foods, all in the heart of Grey Lynn.

3. The Parnell Farmers’ Market
Every Saturday: 8.00 am – 12.00 pm
An authentic farmers’ market, the Parnell Market is an opportunity for locals to connect over great produce and food.
Serving up fresh coffee, baked goods, deli produce and meat, along with fruit and veggies, these is a great place to do your weekly shop whilst supporting local growers.
Go every Saturday at 8 am to the Parnell Farmers’ Market at the library. The stall holders are lovely, the produce is fresh – it’s often organic or spray-free and reasonably priced too.

4. La Cigale French Market – Parnell
Every Saturday: 8.00 am – 1.30 pm and Sunday: 9.00 am – 1.30 pm
If authentic French bread, pastries, cheeses, olivie oils, pâtés and terrines, jams and chutneys and a wide selection of both fresh and cured meats sounds like a bit of you (and it surely does!) then book a visit in to La Cigale in Parnell.
Perhaps you’d enjoy a freshly baked beef bourguignon pie, croque monsieur, hot croissant or pain au chocolat?
Whatever you choose, there is plenty of seating available at La Cigale so go with a hungry tummy and plenty of time to spare.

5. Britomart Saturday Market – Britomart
Every Saturday 8.00 am – 1.00 pm
This market used to be run by the team of La Cigale but is now under new management. Equally worthwhile, this little market packs a punch.
With fresh produce, pastries, coffee, crepes, desserts and all sorts of delicious eat-on-the-go treats, all available right in the central city, this small artisanal market is well worth a visit.
In addition, you’ll also find a number of quality craft and design stalls.

Did you know? You’ll get two hours of free parking the the Britomart Carpark. Simply make a purchase worth $10 or more and present the receipt upon departing the carpark.
The Best Farmers’ Markets: North Auckland
6. Matakana Village Farmers’ Market
Every Saturday: 8.00 am – 1.00 pm
Located an hour or so north of Auckland’s CBD, the Matakana Village Farmers’ Market is a favourite amongst urban-dwellers – it really does feel like a world away.
This zero-waste market is one of the best on the list!
The Matakana Village Farmers’ Market serves up a wide range of artisan food (both to eat in the moment and take home) and fresh coffee, all of which can be enjoyed beside the river. They invite only the best operators, so you can be sure that everything served is top-notch.
Throw some live music into the mix, along with access to a rustic treehouse and natural playground for the kids, and it’s clear that you’re onto a winner.

7. The Market Collaborative at Smales Farm
Second Sunday of every month: 9.00 am – 2.00 pm
If you’re based on the North Shore, you’ll likely be familiar with The Market Collaborative at Smales Farm already. If not, you’re missing out!
One of the newest Auckland markets, the Smales Farm Market is easily accessible via public transport and also comes complete with plenty of free parking.
Once a month they provide access to fresh, organic and sustainable produce from right across Auckland. It’s a great opportunity to visit a range of artisan providers too.
The perfect way to spend a relaxed Sunday, why not head along when they’re next operating?
The Smales Farmers’ Market is superb. It has a great mix of wares and food stalls and a delightful vibe with live music. Plus it’s easy to get to with free parking and a bus stop right there.

West Auckland Farmers’ Markets
8. The Catalina Bay Farmers’ Market (Hobsonville Point)
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 8.30 am – 2.00 pm. Also, there is an additional night market on the third Thursday of every month (during daylight savings hours).
Located on Hobonville Point’s waterfront, this fully-covered market is a favourite in Auckland.
There they serve everything from freshly baked artisanal bread and pastries to local produce and eat-and-go delights. All of the fabulous treats you’d expect!
The market itself is family-friendly and vibrant, making it a great stop on your adventures out West. We love that they run extended hours twice a week too!
Parking is available on Husdon Bay Road, or you can walk straight off the ferry into the action.

Farmers’ Markets in East Auckland
9. The Clevedon Village Farmers’ Market
Every Sunday: 8.00am – 1.00 pm
Our favourite Auckland farmers’ market, it’s worth driving out to Clevedon bright and early on a Sunday morning.
With a fantastic assortment of eat-at-the-time treats, you’ll want to ensure you arrive hungry. We absolutely love their bacon and egg baps (with parsley mayo) and the Hungarian chimney bread!
There’s also plenty of fresh coffee (and fruit smoothies) to go around. We suggest enjoying them on a picnic table or hay bail as you listen to their live musician play.
There are even pony rides for the kids!
Of course, they also have a great assortment of fresh veggies, fruit, baked goods, gourmet cheese, preserves and free-range meats, all ready for you to take home.
I love Clevedon Farmers’ Market for all the yummy local food… Sunday brunch done!

South Auckland Farmers’ Markets
10. The Otara Markets
Open every Saturday: 6.00 am-12.00 pm
An Auckland institution, the Otara Markets provide fun for the whole whānau and an opportunity to experience the amazing cultural diversity present in the city.
This local flea market combines the best of a farmers’ market with items you won’t necessarily find elsewhere on this list.
With ready-to-eat food including hāngi, Pasifika doughnuts, poke, chop suey, pork buns, sushi, churros, souvalaki, coconut bread, and fried bread, it’s impossible to leave Otara hungry!
You’ll also find a wide selection of household goods, second-hand items, Māori and Pasifika cultural gear and so much more.
Vibrant and exciting, every Aucklander needs to pay a visit to the Otara Markets!
